Are you interested in preventing cavities? If so, you probably already know that you should brush your teeth twice a day, floss your teeth once a day and rinse your mouth with mouthwash daily. You probably also know that you should visit your dentist, Dr. Jonathan E. Quillian, every six months. Little did you know, there are little things that you might not have thought of that can help prevent cavities. Those things are:

-Use fluoride toothpaste and fluoride mouthwash: Fluoride is a mineral that can help you have a strong and healthy smile. This is because it dives into the teeth and strengthens and nourishes the tooth enamel. It’s strongly recommended to expose your teeth to fluoride regularly. So, make sure you use fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash in your oral hygiene routine.

-Drink more water: Water can help you in a myriad of ways. In fact, it can wash your mouth from the problem-causing bacteria that like to hang around. When you drink water, it washes the bacteria away and cleans your teeth and gums. So, it’s best to sip on water throughout the day.

-Chew gum: Chewing gum can also wash bacteria from your smile. This is because when you chew, you produce saliva, and saliva washes the teeth and gums. So, do your best to chew gum after every meal. But, make sure it’s sugar free.
