Make your teeth bright, white, and camera-ready
– without leaving the house.

Let’s face it: these days, we’re always prepping for the camera. Whether you want to be able to send a picture-perfect selfie to your friends or are tidying up your social media feed, you want to be able to show off a bright, white, and healthy smile.

But what if your smile isn’t as bright and white as you’d like it to be?

A smile that is discolored isn’t the end of the world. In fact, it can sometimes be fixed at home! Read on to learn our top three tips for making your smile whiter and brighter at home – and what to do when you’ve tried the home remedies but still haven’t gotten the results you want.

1. Brush and floss regularly.

This is basic, but it’s essential: make sure you are brushing and flossing your teeth every day. You should brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss at least once. The better your oral hygiene, the brighter your smile will be. You can also add a whitening toothpaste or rinse to your routine, but while these will lift surface stains, they generally won’t remove set-in stains on their own.

2. Avoid behaviors that lead to tooth stains.

This means quitting tobacco use and cutting back on notorious tooth-staining drinks like tea and coffee, soda, and red wine. Of course, if you enjoy a glass of soda in the afternoons or simply can’t function without your morning cup of joe, you can still avoid tooth stains. Try brushing as soon as possible after drinking, or using a straw to keep the liquids from touching your front teeth.

3. Try an at-home whitening kit.

There are many different at-home whitening solutions for you to try, including whitening strips and paint-on formulas. Most of these are safe and moderately effective. However, make sure you talk with your dentist before trying any new at-home regimen. If your teeth are weak or overly sensitive, these solutions could make them worse.
