Our Culebra North Dental Care team cares about you and your oral health, which is why we are happy to give you the tips and advice you need to repair your smile when you’ve knocked out one of your permanent teeth.

Dental emergencies in San Antonio, Texas, can be terrifying, especially if you’re not sure what to do or if there’s even a way to fix it. However, whether you’ve experience an oral injury or you’ve fallen victim to major dental issues, there’s always a way to improve your oral health. To help you begin improving the situation when you’ve knocked out a tooth, Dr. Jonathan E. Quillian and our team recommend doing the following things:

-Retrieve the tooth: Find the tooth, hold it by the crown (the section that was visible while it was still in your smile), and rinse the root with warm water if it’s dirty. Do not scrub the tooth as you wash it. Scrubbing it will remove any attached tissue fragments.

-Try to put the tooth back in place: If possible, try to put the tooth back into its socket. Whatever you do, do not put it back into place the wrong way and never force it into the socket. If putting the tooth into the socket is not possible, keep the tooth in a small container of milk, in a cup of water with a pinch of table salt, or in a product that contains cell growth medium.

-See your dentist: Call your dentist and schedule an emergency appointment as soon as possible. The only way you can save your tooth is by having your dentist put it back into place within 1 hour of it being knocked out.
